What is Colgate Fluorigard mouthwash?
Colgate Fluorigard is a mouthwash which helps to provide daily protection from cavities. The alcohol-free formula makes this mouthwash perfect for children, pregnant women, and those whose religious beliefs make them unable to take alcohol. Great tasting mint flavour means you’ll be happy to use this mouthwash every day to provide protection for your teeth.
What causes cavities?
When the hard surface of your teeth becomes damaged, tiny holes or openings are formed. These holes are called cavities and are also known as tooth decay or caries. They can be caused by bacteria and plaque in your mouth and by not brushing your teeth properly. Over time, cavities can get larger, causing symptoms such as toothache and sensitive teeth.
How does Colgate Fluorigard mouthwash help to protect your teeth from cavities?
Colgate Fluorigard contains the active ingredient sodium fluoride, which helps to prevent plaque from forming on your teeth. It also helps to prevent mineral loss in your teeth and promotes re-mineralisation during the early stages of tooth decay.
How to use this mouthwash.
Rinse 5 – 10ml of Colgate Fluorigard mouthwash around your mouth once a day, preferably at a different time to when you brush your teeth. Rinse between teeth for one minute before spitting the mouthwash out.
When should Colgate Fluorigard mouthwash not be used?
Flourigard mouthwash is not suitable for use by those under the age of 6. Do not use Fluorigard mouthwash if you are allergic to sodium fluoride or any of the other ingredients listed. Do not eat, drink or rinse mouth for at least 15 minutes after using this product.

I’ve been using this since it was prescribed by my dentist. Its main problem is the suggestion not to use it after brushing teeth – which means I forget it otherwise. So now I just use it before bed. That presumably leaves it good time to work and leaves a fresh mouth for sleeping.
